WEEK FIVE!

We are starting Week Five today!  Sorry to those of you who are following closely, but I forgot to include yesterday's reading when I posted Week Four's reading assignments.  It's posted now, as is all of Week Five.  If we stay on schedule now, we will finish the day before Thanksgiving (November 24th in the US.)  This should give everyone a break over the holidays, and then we'll start a new Bible study in January.  Please let me or Pastor Michael know if you have any suggestions for the next Bible study!

We're Taking a Short Break so Everyone can Catch Up!

A number of us have fallen behind in our reading due to lots of clinic visits, a few hospitalizations, and surgeries, etc.  So, to give everyone a chance to catch up, we are going to start up again with Week Four on September 19th.  That means we will finish on November 24th (the day before Thanksgiving in the USA), if we don't take any more breaks at all.

For all of you who are on schedule with your reading - Congratulations and Well Done! You've done a great job, but will have to wait for all the rest of us to catch up with you!

For newcomers, now is your chance to catch up and join us on this incredible journey of Faith!

The Books of the Bible Song

I added a video of the books of the Bible song by Bigsby (it's right above the music player.)  It's a really great way to help remember them all in order, so check it out!  Also, it's day ten already, and you should be reading Leviticus 26:27 through Numbers 8:14 today.  Pastor Michael has been ill, so is a bit behind on his first week's commentary.  Please pray that he is feeling better soon, and keep reading in the meantime!

Day Six!

It's day six, and you should be reading  Exodus 15:19 through 28:43. Tomorrow we will be finishing with Exodus, and Pastor Michael will summarize what we have read so far.

I'm sure most of us are familiar with the events we've been reading about (Creation, the Fall, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, the Plagues, and the Ten Commandments, etc.) but how many of us have actually read all of the Words of God for ourselves?  I know I hadn't read all of them - many, but certainly not all.  What about you?

Are you on track, or a bit behind?  Be honest - this is a Bible study after all!  I'm a day behind, and will be catching up tonight!  We do have two "free" days scheduled into the 90, but I am planning on using them 1/3 and 2/3 of the way through.  So, do your best to keep up, but be sure to let me know if you're falling behind.

Be sure to leave a comment about your first week in the comment section below, or after Pastor's Michael's post tomorrow!

Also, be sure to check out the You Tube video below (right above the music player) of the Books of the Bible song! (Written and performed by Bigsby.)

Day One - We are Starting!

Today we start an incredible journey together! The Bible is a love letter from God to us, His children.  "We should read and study the Bible because it is God's Word to us.  The Bible is literally 'God-breathed' (2 Timothy 3:16).  In other words, it is God's very words to us."  (Copyright 2002-2010 Got Questions Ministries)

Did you know that one of the many names of Jesus is the Word of God?  John 1:1-2 says "In the beginning the Word already existed.  He was with God, and he was God,"  1 John 1:1 says "The one who existed from the beginning is the one we have heard and seen.  We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands.  He is Jesus Christ, the Word of life," and Revelation 19:13 says "... and his title was the Word of God." (NLT)  Today's reading assignment is Genesis 1:1 through Genesis 16:16.  It is not very long (24 pages in my giant print Bible,) but takes us all the way from Creation to Abram, right before God changed his name to Abraham.  You can read whichever translation you prefer, or you can listen to the NIV translation of today's reading at
http://www.biblein90days.org/listenwhileyouread/  We will be led by our own Pastor Michael Keen and blogging about what we have read to help us to understand and gain better insight into God's Word.  Pastor Michael says "This will be a great journey of learning and applying the Word to our everyday lives.  We hope to become more faithful and led by our gracious Father in Heaven.  Please do not hesitate to add any comments or ask any questions along the way.  I look forward to being a part of this experience with all of you!"  Feel free to post any questions for Pastor Michael, comments you have about today's reading, or anything else you want to share with the group in the comment section below.

This Is My Bible!

“This is my Bible.  I am what it says I am.  I have what it says I have.  I can do what it says I can do.  Today I will be taught the word of God.  I boldly confess my mind is alert, my heart is receptive; Ill never be the same.  In Jesus name, God bless you.”  Joel Olsteen
